Here is your Bible Devotional! Welcome to Day Forty-Eight!
A little Bible Devotional tip–To go deeper in your devotionals, dedicate one day to just meditate on the passage you are studying, then the next day journal about it.
2 Chronicles 20:15
Bible Devotional Thoughts
The Battle belongs to the Lord. This is what the Lord says to you. He says to us not to be afraid or dismayed because of the great multitude of challenges before you.
Because the battle is not yours. The battle belongs to God.
The rest of the chapter bears this out. King Jehoshaphat is surrounded by enemies. God took care of them. What did the inhabitants of Judah do? Sing praises to God. God did the rest.
So here we are commanded not to be afraid or be dismayed because the battle belongs to the Lord.
When I hear that phrase I naturally think of the December I spent at a missions conference at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, just weeks after I graduated from college. In that arena, 20,000 college students sang that song! It was incredible! That next summer on a missions trip to Romania, we sang that song, too. The battle became real over those 10 days as we shared the gospel to a very thirsty people and we found Satan tried to oppose us again and again.
But back at home in everyday life when surrounded by what seems like insurmountable challenges, it’s easy to forget that the battle belongs to the Lord. It’s easy to carry it on ourselves, trying to be a “good soldier” attempting to do it all on our own.
But we don’t have to! Whatever we face, the battle belongs to the Lord and he will be victorious.
Application of Bible Devotional
List out the challenges you face and ask God to help you, relinquishing control to Him.
Dear Lord, the battle is not ours, but yours. Help us to relinquish control and let go of fear. Amen.
Call to Action
One of the reasons I’m starting this Bible Devotional is to ask for others to intentionally pray for our business, AngelArts.
Pray that we will trust God throughout our various challenges.
